Let me just start off with this.....I was wooofullly underprepared for this hike. This is what happens when I don't research. I *thought* after driving by it a few times you just hiked to the top and down.....Hahaha that's not it at all!
So the hike straight up wasn't terrible it was a good workout.
It wasn't very busy the day we were there.
I did manage to find a tree in the middle of the dunes to sit under!
So by the time I got to the top I was hot and thirsty but no worries right grab a pic of the lake and back to the car we go right? No this is where my lack of planning came in you don't climb to the top and see the lake....you climb then trudge through sand then climb more...honestly I don't know after that we never made it down to the lake thanks to my lack of planning, no sunscreen and no water.
As we got to the top of the second hill I told hubby I was done. I had to laugh there was a guy down the trail from me who yelled to his kids "I don't care this is as far as I am going." Glad to know I wasn't the only one who planned poorly. Even though I hadn't planned well it was still a great hike and beautiful.
This was what I called the hill and a half. It was after the big climb but before the second one and you didn't have to climb it but I'm glad we did there the views were great!
Even the Dunes have flowers!
