Kitch-iti-kipi

Today we went to kitch-iti-kipi which means "big cold water" and was originally named "Mirror of Heaven" by the Native Americans (Ojibwe) and I can see why, it is absolutely beautiful.

We got there early and we were glad we did as by the time we left it was more crowded then I would have liked it to be. The ranger said up to a few years a go few people visited but it seems quite popular these days as the parking lot was full when we left.

Kitch-iti-kipi is a spring fed body of water that never freezes and remains a constant 45 degrees all year round. They have a very inventive "raft" on a pulley so you can go out to the middle of the lake and see directly below it's so clear. The raft also goes over the top of where the spring comes up which is very cool to see and I have attached a short video that shows it below.

Overall a very worthwhile stop and a big shout out to one of my friends who pointed us in this direction!

This is where the spring is constantly bubbling up into the lake, so cool to see!
