Glacier National Park Day 1

One of my favorite scenic stops

So thanks to Floppy's shots we were up and what we thought was early. Note: the first full day we were there we lollygagged a little in the morning took Flop on a walk and had breakfast before we left (we did not make that mistake again). So our "plan" was to drive to Logan Pass and hike the Hidden Lake Trail and drive to the east side as far as the road was open. Side note; the east side is closed due to the fact that it is on Native American land and they have it closed to try and control covid on the reservation. So we merrily started off about 7:30, let me just say this was way to late, there was no where to park at Logan Pass when we got there so we changed plans a little and it worked out great!

First stop was just past Logan Pass at a pullover to take in the view

You can barely make out the blue in the Glacier in the distance

After that we stopped at a pullover to check out the Glacier! Since the east side is closed this is the only Glacier we got to see on this trip

Very cool bridge!

A short hike to a small waterfall between the rocks

Never thought I would own bear spray

The bears were very active when we were there and in fact they closed one of the trails the day after we hiked it due to the bear activity. We however didn't see one.

Then we hiked to Baring Falls which was a great "short" hike with beautiful falls at the end.

As we drove we were greeted with fantastic views.

We went as far as Rising Sun where they usually do boat tours but this year due to covid they were not running. Still a great stop and soooo windy!!

After that stop we turned around (remember the east side is closed) and headed back to the bus for lunch and to let Floppy out. After a refuel and pit stop for Flop we headed out for the afternoon. One of the reasons I loved the campground was that it was so close you could bike into the National park.

Bike Trail into the Glacier National Park

Lake McDonald

It was great day for a ride and the path (other then one hill that goes strait up) was fantastic and scenic. After our ride we headed back to Maddie and called it a day earlier since we knew we had to start out earlier then we did today in order to get a parking place!
